Leavenworth and North Cascades Highway
June 23, 2007

Dale heard from a co-worker about the town of Leavenworth. This small Bravarian type town had a Acordian Festival going on and we were lucky to see it on our visit.

From Cookoo Clocks to crafts and music the town gave you the Alps feel.

Music went all day long at the pravilion

The surrounding mountains added the effects of the town atmosphere

This little restaurant served the bratwurst in several ways.

Caught the end of the small parade.

One of the entertainers

This was a real nice day of shops and music. Could not ask for any better weather.

Entering into the North Cascades National Park the visitor center had a free guided tour of the parks plant life.

Remembering back to when the glaciers cleared and made this sloping landscape.

The river had a swift current.

Making it a rafters dream

Along the drive we seen waterfalls

and beautiful scenery

Last stop was Wild Horses Monument rest stop on the loop scenic drive.

The wind was pretty wicked with a cold front moving in, but the river and gorge was a nice view to stretch your legs.

Although there was a little rain on our scenic loop. It was mostly when we were going to stop for the night anyway. What do you expect! It's Washington where they have the popular Rain Festival January through December

Town of Murals
Toppenish, Washington
June 16, 2007

The town of Toppenish has over 70 murals painted by professional artist on the sides of their businesses in town.

The visitor center has maps and information about each mural. There is several in town to walk around and see and others are spread out to drive to.

Some of them amusing, others informative about important acheivers and businesses.

A lot of them had murals painted about the earlier times of the same business. Example of the first school buses used in Toppenish was painted on the school bus repair shop.

The detail was really done nice. From small areas to complete sides of the buildings.

Some were even on the windows.

This last painting. The artist suprised the town by returning later and painting himself painting the mural. People do second takes looking at the mural.

Kenny Falls
Snoqualmie, Washington
June 9, 2007

Snoqualmie area has several waterfalls and trails to see.

We took one day and walked the Kenny Falls trail.

The little hike took us a long views even into a little snow.

We stopped at the flowing river. Had a break and returned to our vehicle to head home.
